Grandparents Day

July 29, 2022

“Nobody can do for little children what grandparents do.Grandparents sort of sprinkle stardust over the lives of little children.” rightly quoted by Alex Haley.

An annual feature of St. Joseph’s Institute, ( Primary Section), at Baina, is to honour our children’s, ‘Grandparents’, by dedicating a special day to them.

So this year, after a two year gap, on Friday, the 29th of July 2022, at 10am, a total of 65 grandparents, of the children of Class 2, trouped in. Their joy and pride was evident.

Children of Class 2, presented their grandparents, a special greeting card which was made by them.

A small programme was hosted in their honour. The comperes for the day were Aabha Talauliker and Aaryan Halarnkar. A warm welcome was accorded to them by Caelan D’Souza, in English and Anirudh Mandrekar in Marathi. The children of Class 2B presented a ‘Welcome Dance’ while Class 2A danced to the tune of a Marathi song, “Akashachi Potadi”. A Hindi skit was enacted, where values of love and family values were spelt out and was much appreciated by the grandparents.

A Marathi song,” Chocolate Cha Bangla ” and a special English song, dedicated to their Grandparents were pelted out, where children expressed their gratitude and appreciation to them.

Asha Keny, our Assistant Headmistress, appreciated the grandparents for taking keen interest in the lives of their grandchildren especially during the times of the pandemic. This was followed by a very interactive session of songs and words of advice by our Grandparents. They showered us with their gratitude too.

Pratham Balachandra, proposed the vote of thanks.

They were then treated to refreshments and were allowed to visit the school premises along with their grandchildren.

As all good things come to an end, so did our Grandparents Day. It was definitely a memorable day for them and us too.
