Science experiment – Air is everywhere

To demonstrate an experiment on ‘Air is everywhere’,  the students took a quarter bowl of water and an empty glass. The glass was vertically placed in the bowl of water. When the glass was removed, it didn’t get wet.

How ?

To understand this concept,

The glass was tilted and placed in the bowl.  With a gurgling sound, the water entered the glass and it got wet. The students were thrilled to understand that, because of the presence of air in the glass, it didn’t get wet. When the air was allowed to escape, the glass got wet. Students discussed their observations with their peers.
