National Reading Day – 19th June 2023
June 19 - June 20

Class III and IV:
National Reading Day originated in the 1940s, but the celebration began in 1996. However, with each passing year, National Reading Day gains significance and people are joining together to understand and embrace the importance of reading.
To celebrate ‘Reading Day’ at school, activities were planned in several classes to make this day exciting and memorable for students.
Children were encouraged to include reading into their everyday routines and to enjoy it. After all, reading can help one understand and have a better perspective on anything and everything.
This day was set aside as a formal introduction to using classroom libraries and self-issuing books for the academic year 2023-24. Children were taught how to fill out the issue and returns in the record book, take books home to read, and be responsible for the upkeep of the books.
On 20th June 2023, word search activities were also done in classes 3 and 4 to help students understand various genres and library-related concepts.
Using these word search games, children attempted to find words of various genres in the list. Students were initially encouraged to complete the word search on their own before being allowed to collaborate with one another.
